The Excellence in Entrepreneurship Small Business Awards recognition program is a chance for CommunityWorks and the Greenville Chamber to come together to recognize and celebrate all the entrepreneurs, micro and small businesses that make our region unique and vibrant. Awards will be presented at the Excellence in Entrepreneurship event.

The awards to be presented are listed below:
- Young Entrepreneur of the Year – The Young Entrepreneur of the Year is a self-motivated entrepreneur who has formed a successful small or microbusiness. The individual must serve as a majority owner and operate or bear principal responsibility for operating a microbusiness, as defined by having 5 or fewer employees, with a two year track record, and who will not have reached the age of 35 by May 4, 2023.
- Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year – An individual who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of owning a successful, minority-owned business. The owner must also serve as a majority owner and operator or bear principal responsibility for operating a microbusiness, as defined by having 5 or fewer employees, with at least a two year track record.
- Woman-Owned Small Business of the Year – A woman entrepreneur who has experienced the rewards and difficulties of owning a successful business. The owner must also serve as a majority owner and operator or bear principal responsibility for operating a microbusiness, as defined by having 5 or fewer employees, with at least a two year track record.
- Entrepreneurial Success Award – Individuals must own and operate a business that was initially launched as a microbusiness according to SBA size standards of 5 or fewer employees and subsequently developed into a small business. To be nominated and receive this award, the nominee must be an individual who owns and operates or who bears principal responsibility for operating a small business. Partners who jointly own and operate a business may be nominated as a “team,” as long as the number of individuals in the team nomination does not exceed four.
- Small Business Champion – An individual who has fulfilled a commitment to the advancement of microbusiness opportunities for low- to moderate-income, minority, veteran, woman, and/or young business owners and entrepreneurs may be nominated. Nominees may or may not be microbusiness owners.
