MicroEntrepreneur Training

Join us for this 10-week training designed for businesses in the startup phase.

Participants learn how to choose a business idea, develop a business plan, develop a marketing plan, understand market analyses, explore financing options, assess risk management, develop a customer service philosophy, as well as other relevant entrepreneurial skills. Eligible participants who complete the course and requirements may receive a marketing and/or accounting grant.

MicroEntrepreneur Training will be held on Wednesdays, February 18th to April 22nd, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm online via Zoom.

What you need to do:

  • Be a SC resident
  • Register for MicroEntrepreneur Training: $45 fee
  • Complete Class Requirements: Fill out a Business Sketch Plan and attend at least 7 of the 10 sessions.
  • Apply for a Credit Builder Secured Savings Account: Apply during the first 7 weeks of class to unlock additional financial benefits.

What’s the Credit Builder Secured Savings Account?

  • This unique program helps you build personal and business credit while saving for your business.
  • Loan amounts range from $500–$1,000 at a fixed rate of 2.00% over 12 months.
  • After making all monthly payments and completing a full Financial Wellness Assessment, you’ll receive your savings back, plus a 50% match from CommunityWorks.
  • Includes access to financial coaching to prepare for future financing opportunities.

What You’ll Gain:

  • $500 Grant: Upon completing the course and setting up your Secured Savings, you will receive a $500 grant for marketing and accounting expenses.
  • $500 Savings Match: Get a 50% match from the Secured Savings program after one year.
